A tabloid newspaper recently reported on the growing trend of women taking second jobs as pole dancers in order to supplement their income.
The article, which appeared in The Sun newspapers Cash Flow section on Tuesday 16th September, focused on dancers from a premier London lap dancing chain and highlighted the growing importance of dancing for these women during these tough economic times.
It is a fact of life that the cost of living is rising at a rapid rate. Food, fuel, and household bills are steadily increasing and many people are now struggling to make ends meet. It is perhaps then little wonder that more and more people are seeking a second income to help ease any financial dilemmas.
Pole dancing provides an excellent way of earning extra money and as such, women are turning to this art to make their lives more comfortable. As an added benefit, any dancer can make an extra cash injection by working extra shifts. This is great for instance, should an unexpected bill arrive.
However, it's not just about the money as some women even use dancing as a method of improving fitness. One dancer named Nula stated that she had her own pole mounted in her flat to help stay fit and practice her pole dance routines.
Joy Drameh, senior manager of a chain of London pole dancing bars, spoke to The Sun regarding the matter of the rise in women turning to pole dancing as a second income. She said;
"The main reason seems to be the credit crunch. It is getting more and more difficult for the girls because the price of everything is increasing. A normal day job does not pay the bills anymore; therefore these girls are using their good looks to their advantage."
"The credit crunch is affecting households across the UK and shows little sign of waning. People across the UK are worried about their monetary situations, which is why so many people see getting a second job as a necessity. Our pole dancing clubs just give women the chance to ease any financial worries."
